Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Penny is a cute one-year old female Beagle/Labrador Retriever mix who was brought to the HSOV on January 5, 2025. We had hoped that she would be reunited with her family but, unfortunately, they decided on February 27th that they could not take her back home after all ... And asked us to find her a loving home instead.
This young lady has a tan short smooth coat with cream-coloring shading on her chest, a long tail, and an adorable (rather mischievous-looking) face with pale brown eyes, a liver-colored nose, and large floppy ears which frame her face.
Penny is merely an overgrown puppy at one-year old and exhibits normal puppy behavior (especially chewing/digging). She appears to have some separation anxiety issues and surely misses the comfort/security of her home and family. Penny has made her 'home' in the front office of the shelter since all of our kennels are full, and she would love to be in a larger area where she would have more space to stretch her legs and to expend some youthful energy. This little girl is 'starved' for attention.
Penny had shared her home with children. Penny may be a little too active for small/young children since she tends to jump when she is playing/excited and could unintentionally knock youngsters down.
Penny is selective about which dogs she chooses as her friends :(
Penny weighs 36.4 lbs and is fairly strong on a leash.
Penny will be spayed before being adopted by her new family. She could be fostered while awaiting her spay procedure with an approved HSOV foster/adoption application.
Penny was spayed on March 4, 2025 and was also given rabies vaccine.
Update: Penny went home with a foster family on March 19, 2025 who plans to adopt her if all goes well.
Unfortunately Penny was returned to our shelter on April 10, 2025 because she was continuing to exhibit puppy behavior (aggressive chewing), and her foster family was not having any success in breaking old habits.
Penny went home with a foster family on May 18, 2025 who plans to adopt her if all goes well.
Happy Dance... Penny was adopted by her foster family on May 20, 2025.
