Meet Nacho!
Nacho has just arrived in Canada after being rescued from the streets of Mexico by a kind-hearted woman. Now safe and settling into his foster home, this 11-month-old poodle mix (about 20 lbs) is ready to find a loving forever family.
At first, Nacho can be a little nervous, which is understandable as he adjusts to his new surroundings. However, his affectionate and cuddly personality is already shining through, as he will show you he’s nervous by giving you kisses! He adores his foster mom, enjoys snuggling on the couch, and even loves watching TV. At night, he sleeps soundly as long as his foster mom is close by. He will be your shadow until he feels more settled in the home.
Nacho is a food-motivated pup with a great appetite—especially for treats like bully sticks and yak bones! His house training is progressing well, and while he’s not a big fan of the crate just yet, he’s learning to associate it with comfort and rewards when the door remains open.
Nacho enjoys his walks and he is doing well with his leash and harness. He has shown some reactivity to other dogs but his foster is working on it, and he will benefit from positive reinforcement training. Training classes will not only help him build confidence and socialization skills but also strengthen the bond with his future family.
Nacho’s Ideal Home:
✔️ A home with a secure, fenced-in yard (no condos for this boy)
✔️ An active family ready to continue his training and socialization
✔️ Another dog in the home is fine, but he’d also be happy as the only pup
✔️ Someone home often, as he’s still adjusting and we don’t know how long he can be left alone yet
Nacho is a medium-energy pup and a low-shedding breed (though not hypoallergenic). As we continue to learn more about him, one thing is clear—this sweet boy has so much love to give, and it’s only going to get better from here!
