My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

** $200 in pledges for the rescue that pulls! **

Midnight is an approximately 4 year old male mixed breed dog that came to the shelter as a stray. When he got to the shelter, it was evident that he was a shy and gentle boy. Midnight is good with everyone he meets once he warms up, and also is wonderful with other dogs! Volunteers also noted that Midnight just LOVES to run and chase balls.

Midnight’s staff and volunteer friends had this to say about him:

Per volunteer 3/23: Midnight is an absolute sweetie. Midnight was so easy to leash in the kennel and walked like a true gentleman. He wasn’t too interested in treats or toys. He’s a simple fella who loves to be outside and get some sniffs in.

Per volunteer on 3/14:
We took Midnight (in the TTA room) out. He is high energy. I think she would do well with one of the runners club volunteers. She is a little mouthy, pulls on leash but I think that is because she has a lot of energy to burn. Maybe he should be blue? Also I wonder if a harness would be better for him because he pulls so much he causes himself to cough.

Per volunteer 3/12:
High energy. Loves tennis 🎾 loves to run

Per volunteer 3/8:
Midnight is a social and friendly pup who seeks comfort from his handlers. He allows all handling and has shown us his gentle, affectionate side. Though he was a bit timid and nervous at times, he tried his hardest to engage in play and show his sweet personality.
He isnt interested in treats just yet, but with a patient and loving handler, he’s sure to come out of his shell. Midnight is looking for a home that will help him feel safe, secure, and loved—could that be with you?

Per volunteer 3/8:
day trip notes: Leash behavior - initially pulls a lot, but redirects VERY easily. Total pleasure to walk. Will go at any pace you desire and follows commands well

Food behavior- I brought a long several treats which he was very excited about- he will take off your hand due to excitement lol. Definitely needs some training on being gentle around food.

Overall- I worked with him a bit on sitting/staying/etc, and he's ALMOST there. He doesn't know how to sit, but he's close. Some consistent training should get him there very quickly.

Midnight is incredibly sweet and very eager to please. He is also very loyal and snuggly. He was very grateful for the excersise.

Per staff 3/6:
Midnight is gentle/dainty in playgroup and is great with other dogs of like play styles!

Per staff 2/28:
BEHAVIOR EVALUATION: Midnight

KNOWN HISTORY:
Stray

KENNEL PRESENTATION:
Midnight was in his crate up on the door, excitably pawing at it and jumping up. He had soft eyes and a wagging tail. He was lash dodging when the handler reached in and was able to secure him ears to ear. Once secured he came right out.

LEASH SKILLS:
Pulls minimally to moderately

HANDLING :
In the room, Midnight was social and friendly while he panted excessively. He allowed all handling and sought comfort from the handlers while he was a little stressed, pacing around the corners of the room. He was a bit timid and nervous at times, but tried his hardest to be playful. He showed no interest in treats and was too stressed to do tricks.

PLAY:
Minimal interest

TOYS:
Needs time to warm up to toys – takes possession once he warms up

COLOR LEVEL & ANY RECOMMENDATIONS:
Gold
