My name is River!

Meet River: River is a 2-year-old mixed-breed boy who was rescued from Seminole County in February of 2025. He is a quiet, gentle soul who is still learning that people can be kind and the world can be safe. River is very skittish and severely under-socialized, likely because he spent much of his life as a stray with little to no human contact. Because of this, he has not shown any aggression—he is simply unsure and needs time to build trust. River would feel most comfortable in an adult-only home or with older children who understand how to move calmly, speak softly, and respect his space. He is still learning how to walk confidently on a leash, and slow, positive practice will help him gain confidence. With his low energy level, River would do well in an apartment or condo. He may be house-trained, but new environments can be confusing at first, so gentle reminders and patience will help him settle in. River is looking for a peaceful home and a kind, patient person who is willing to go at his pace. Watching him learn to trust and feel safe will be a truly special journey.
