Here's what the humans have to say about me:
FIRST STEPS: Please visit https://www.save-a-mutt.org/adoption-application/ to fill out an application - a Petfinder Inquiry is not the adoption process. We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State - we are a local foster based rescue and no transport from another state required. :) Thanks!

Meet Belize... our DNA lately has us wrinkling our brows. It explains some the size issues - since she's so much smaller than we thought. So she's big dog / little dog. At 5 months old, Belize is only around 33# pounds, which puts her in the 50-60 range fully grown. Belize came to us from CA and was adored by her foster mom, she almost didn't let her go. Now up in WA... she's equally loved. Belize got to visit Everett's Zoom Room and the staff couldn't believe how smart and sweet she is. They took some adorable photos of her.
Belize is a little spoiled from her first foster home. She is crating at night and during the day - she whines a little and then goes to sleep. In her new home - she could take a couple days to get adjusted. She also would LOVE to go to a home with other playful, friendly dogs. Belize is being fostered with our boy Cecil (still looking for a home) and they are fast friends. She has met the resident cats and has shown only typical puppy interest. We think dog savvy cats would be fine.
We know her DNA has her as a good portion Argentino Dogo breed - as a general rule, this is a good family dog and just needs a home that understands large breed dogs. Save-A-Mutt will require a training contract. You pick a trainer in your area, and pick your class.
This puppy is spayed, microchipped and has all her DHPP puppy vaccines + bordetella. She will just need her rabies vaccine. Puppies are good with dogs, cats, kids and more. Being a puppy, they will need lots of training, including housebreaking. Remember, puppies are cute, but they have sharp teeth, need to be fed 3 times a day and poop... a lot!
The 3-3-3 rule is a guideline for transitioning a rescue dog into its new home and helping it to settle in. It suggests that the first three days should be used for adjusting to its new surroundings, the next three weeks for training and bonding, and the first three months for continued socialization and training.
Each dog goes home with a goody bag including collar/leash, toys, chews, Kong, and more. You will receive all medical records, microchip transfer form and other paperwork at the time of adoption.
Adoptions typically take place in Stanwood.
Adoption fee is $575. Save-A-Mutt is a registered 501c3 and half of your adoption fee may be tax deductible.
Save-A-Mutt is a foster based rescue, we do not have a facility to visit. Our adoptions are typically done Monday - Saturday, we are closed on Sunday’s to give our volunteers at least one day off. You must be available to do meets and adoptions during that time frame. We can make exceptions only with the approval of the foster home.
Please note, we have approximately a 300 mile adoption radius - Portland OR area and Vancouver BC is the farthest north. We don’t ship dogs, once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Canadian adopters must be able to come to Stanwood WA to pick up your puppy.
