Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Arthur (or Artie) was surrendered to us after his owner's determined that they were not able to care for him. They were older people and Arthur is just too much for them to handle. They stated that they believed they rushed into purchasing him after losing one of their long time companions. They admitted that they should have done more research on the breed and wanted him to have a home more suited to his needs. Artie is very friendly and playful. He is an active boy who enjoys playing with balls, other dogs and squeaky toys. He loves to run and romp on the yard. He does get excited and will jump so we are trying to break him of that. He is not fully housebroken or crate trained although he is almost there. He usually does fine in a crate overnight but not always. He's comfortable in a crate and will sometimes go in on his own to take a nap. Inside, he does do pretty well but occasionally still has accidents. He doesn't try to grab things off the counter or get into the trash and we haven't seen him chewing on any furniture. He is still a puppy so he just needs that continued consistency to learn what is expected of him. Personality wise, he's wonderful and we believe he could fit easily into pretty much any home environment. Just keep in mind what we have noted above and be prepared to put in some training. Artie does well with kids and other dogs. He should do well with cats from observing his behavior but we don't actually have cats to test him with so we can't give any guarantees about that. He's still a pup so they can usually adapt easily to everyone and everything around them though. He should have a fenced yard to run in or get a lot of outside leashed walking time or outings to dog parks. He will benefit from exercise and stimulation and probably isnt the best choice for someone who doesnt want a dog that requires a more active lifestyle. Artie will be a fun boy to add to your family and he should bring a lot of joy to the home.
Arthur saw the vet on 2/11/25 and was found to no issues noted. He has been started on Simparica Trio for flea control and heartworm prevention. He tested negative for heartworms and was also negative on his fecal. Arthur weighed 30.4 pounds as of 2/11/25.
If interested in giving Arthur his forever home, please submit your interest and your adoption application via email or text ONLY to 352-215-3260 (phone calls will not be answered or returned from this number). Arthur's adoption fee will be $400 to help cover the cost of his vetting and daily care while with us. We will only consider applicants who complete the adoption application and will determine whether the applicant would be a good fit for Arthur based on the info provided in the application. If we feel that you will be a good match for him, we will set up a meet and greet appointment with you
