My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rowan is a gentle and timid soul who has endured a tough start in life, found as a stray and severely emaciated. Despite his past hardships, he has a heart full of love and is slowly learning that humans can be kind and caring. Though initially shy, Rowan adores gentle pets and affection, leaning into the warmth of a loving touch. Loud noises startle him, causing him to cower or retreat, but with patience and reassurance, he is gaining confidence every day. Rowan is searching for a compassionate home where he can continue to heal, feel safe, and be showered with the love and care he so deeply deserves.

Notes From Foster :

Meet Rowan! This sweet boy is the ultimate companion—he adores affection, loves to be pet, and will happily follow you wherever you go. He has a playful side but mostly just wants to be by your side, soaking up all the love and attention. Whether you're relaxing at home or out for a stroll, Rowan will be your loyal shadow, always ready for cuddles and companionship. If you're looking for a loving, devoted pup, he's the perfect match!

More about this shelter

The Maryland SPCA connects wonderful pets to loving owners. We are not affiliated with any national animal organization, and we do not receive any government or United Way funding. Our mission is to prevent cruelty and neglect of animals through fostering the humane relationship between animals and people. We operate primarily in the Greater Baltimore Metropolitan area.

To make sure that our dogs and cats do not contribute to the pet overpopulation problem, every one is spayed or neutered before going into a new home. The cost is included in the adoption fee, as are the costs of shots and other necessary care. In addition, a free Positive Pooch class is available to our dog adopters.

There is no set time limit for how long an animal can remain in our adoption program. As long as an animal maintains general good health and a sound temperament, we keep him or her until adopted. We pride ourselves on providing premium care to the animals in a clean, pleasant environment. Our adoption staff works diligently to pair up adopters with the best animal match for their homes and lifestyles.

We transport animals from other shelters to our adoption center to help more animals get adopted. We also help pet owners find new homes for their pets so their animals don’t need to enter shelter care.
