Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Sweet Bram (or as his foster calls him, Bramble), has been with RCHS for a couple of months receiving treatment for a condition call feline stomatitis. He is doing great now, but here is a bit about what this poor boy has been experiencing:
Feline stomatitis is an inflammatory condition of the mouth in cats, characterized by severe pain, inflammation and ulceration. Symptoms include loss of weight due to difficulty eating and drinking, foul breath and chronic drooling. Cats often can't groom due to the extreme mouth pain. The exact cause of feline stomatitis is unknown, but it is believed to be an immune-mediated response to dental plaque. Treatment can depend on severity, but in many cases, including Bram's, removal of all teeth is required. By getting rid of all the teeth, the source of inflammation (the dental plaque) is removed.
Within days after surgery Bram's quality of life significantly improved. He's now a normal, happy and playful cat, purring as soon as you start petting him. He loves attention - and FOOD! He is fine with other respectful animals, though a slow introduction is recommended.
This sweet boy is all ready for his forever family!
All cats go to their new homes spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and tested negative for FIV/FeLV. If you are interested in adopting this cat, please fill out an application here: bit.ly/Cat-Adopt-App.
