My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**Meet Velvet: Your Silly, People-Loving Companion!**

Are you ready to welcome a bundle of joy into your home? Meet Velvet, a delightful medium-sized mixed breed with a heart full of love and a spirit that shines! Velvet is not just any dog; she`s a silly, playful pup who loves to tippy toe around, bringing laughter and smiles wherever she goes. Her excitement for life is contagious, and she adores being around people, making her the perfect companion for those who enjoy lots of affection and fun.

However, it`s crucial to understand that Velvet has a very specific need: she cannot tolerate any other dogs. The presence of other animals, especially dogs, makes her extremely anxious, and it`s essential for her well-being that she lives in an environment where she won’t encounter them. For this reason, Velvet would thrive best in a peaceful, rural setting away from busy neighborhoods, traffic, and other pets. A home in the country, far from the hustle and bustle and potential dog distractions, would be ideal for her to feel safe and secure.

If you`re looking for a loving companion who will shower you with affection and joy, Velvet is the perfect match for you! Are you ready to open your heart and home to this wonderful girl?

More about this shelter

We are a local non-profit organization run and staffed by your neighbors. We make decisions on caring for homeless, unwanted, abandoned and abused domestic animals based on what we believe is best for them. We have no affiliation with any larger group and we receive no funding from any larger group that might influence our decisions or actions.

We advocate only for the animals in our care to help them find their forever home with you.

UPAWS does not receive operating funds from any governmental agency. We rely on donations from our neighbors and friends to make our efforts possible. We save consistently 98% of the animals who come to us – which is an award-winning success story. We want to educate everyone on proper animal care so there soon won’t be the three percent who come to us too sick or wounded to be saved. It’s your support that makes this dream possible.
