My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

The universe works in mysterious ways… and if you’ve been waiting for a sign to adopt your perfect pup, here it is! Lucy arrived in Colorado on 2/22/25—a date filled with the special number 222, symbolizing love, balance, and the perfect match. Coincidence? We don’t think so!

Lucy is an adorable Chihuahua / Jack Russell mix, who is 1 year old and a whopping 8 lbs. The following is from Lucy's foster:

"Lucy is so sweet and small and adorable! She gets along great with both of our dogs, and she loves to be held and wraps her little arms around you to hold on. She walks well on a leash, and after a few hours totally warmed up with us!"

Lucy is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and ridiculously adorable. She’s a social butterfly, a cuddle expert, and what she lack in size - she makes up for in heart. Lucy is full of life, happiness, and ready to bring endless smiles to her forever family.

We don't know if Lucy has had any formal training. A (virtual or in-person) positive reinforcement group training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence for a young dog whose self-esteem will fly high while she masters her skills. Training is so important in the future behaviors of every dog. It's for this reason that we're unwilling to adopt to a family that doesn't make this loving choice.
Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both in-person and virtual positive reinforcement / force- free trainers in your area. Our training requirement is to help every adoption be successful.

Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.
Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year.

If you are interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ .

**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application, as the application on Petfinder and Adoptapet do not make it back to us with all of the information we need.
