My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Oh, you think you’ve seen the perfect puppy before? That’s cute.

Allow us to introduce Inari—the gold standard of canine excellence.
She’s got the looks (obviously). She’s got the size (adorably petite, as if she were designed in a lab for maximum appeal). She’s got the brains (smarter than most of us before our morning coffee). And the soul? Oh, it’s gentle, deep, and probably more profound than yours. But wait—there’s more! She’s a puppy who’s already potty trained (yes, really), not a destructive chewer (your shoes are safe), and is pretty much done growing (so no surprises there). Basically, she’s a unicorn in dog form.

Meet Inari, an 8-month-old Great Pyrenees mix and an absolute vision of resilience and grace—despite having a backstory that could be the opening scene of a heartbreaking documentary. Inari hails from our New Beginnings Litter, which is a polite way of saying she and her siblings spent their early days living exclusively indoors—so much so that the concept of grass was as foreign to them as quantum physics. Then, just when life couldn’t get any more interesting, their owner went into a nursing home, and they were unceremoniously evicted into the great outdoors like some sort of real-life reality survival show. But don’t worry—Inari has since been enlightened to the wonders of fresh air, sunshine, and the groundbreaking concept of dirt beneath her paws. She’s still working on her social skills and prefers to keep her inner circle exclusive, but with time, patience, and plenty of treats, she’s learning that humans aren’t all bad.

Inari is basically that effortlessly cool friend who gets along with everyone but isn’t about to beg for attention. She does great with dogs of all sizes—some she plays with when she feels like it, others she simply acknowledges with a polite nod. As for cats? Please. Inari doesn’t waste her time seeking validation from creatures who knock things off counters for sport. She simply exists in her own realm of superiority and lets them do their thing. Now, when it comes to tiny humans, Inari has only been around teenagers and tolerates them just fine. But if you’re expecting an overly cuddly, in-your-face, shadow-of-a-dog situation—think again. She’s more of a watch-from-afar-and-make-sure-they-don’t-do-anything-stupid type. Younger kids? She might love them, but in a cool babysitter who doesn’t engage unless absolutely necessary kind of way. And as for strangers? Inari is the definition of an introvert. If new people come over, she will not be first in line to greet them—unless by “greet” you mean walk away and pretend they don’t exist. She’s more of a mystery guest than a hostess, much like your cat who only emerges once the house is quiet again. So, yes, you can have visitors… just don’t expect Inari to be handing out welcome gifts.

Inari has the perfect energy level—by which we mean she’s just the right mix of down for an activity and professional couch ornament. She’s a solid 5/10 on the energy scale—enough pep to join you for fun things, but also perfectly content to supervise from a comfortable distance when you're feeling lazy. Car rides? No motion sickness, so that’s a win. However, actually getting her into the car? That’s another story. She needs a little help getting in and once inside, she treats the whole experience like a hostage situation—silent, still, and just waiting for it to be over. Leashes? Oh, absolutely not. You clip one on, and she immediately activates statue mode. Moving? Walking? Exploring? Please. She has no interest in your human traditions. If you were hoping for an adventure dog, she might surprise you one day… or she might just continue to act like the leash is a government conspiracy. Loud noises? Hard pass. Vacuums, raised voices, or anything remotely startling? She’s out. Vanished. Gone. Probably under the furniture contemplating her life choices. So if you’re looking for a dog that thrives on excitement, keep scrolling. But if you’re cool with a dignified, slightly skeptical, low-key hilarious companion, Inari is your girl.

Inari is a sensitive soul—which is a polite way of saying she’s a little shy, a little skeptical, and probably silently judging you from across the room when you first meet. But don’t worry, once she decides you’re not a threat (or just accepts that you keep showing up), she’ll warm up and let you into her very exclusive social circle. She’s the perfect mix of play and chill—meaning she’ll happily go frolic around when the mood strikes, but she’s also a firm believer in the importance of relaxation. Think work-life balance but for dogs. Now, about that fence—yes, she needs one. Not wants, needs. No, leash walks alone will not cut it. Inari requires a secure, fenced-in space where she can roam, explore, and ponder the meaning of life safely. Without one, you’re looking at a dog who will either refuse to move on a leash or suddenly discover Olympic-level sprinting skills in the exact opposite direction you intended. So unless you’re training for a marathon and want to sprint after an independent-minded Pyrenees mix, a fence is non-negotiable.

Inari is mostly potty trained—meaning, as long as you keep her on a good schedule, she won’t leave you any “surprises.” Stray from that routine, though, and well… that’s on you. In the kennel, she’s an absolute model citizen. No jailbreak attempts, no dramatic protests, just quiet compliance—truly a rare gem in the world of puppies. Now, get this—she has never tried getting on the couch. Ever. We don’t know if she’s just too polite, too humble, or secretly running a long con until the day she claims the entire thing for herself. Either way, enjoy it while it lasts. Chewing? Not her thing. Which, for a puppy, is basically a miracle. No shredded shoes, no gnawed table legs—she’s living proof that not all young dogs are tiny, adorable wrecking balls. As for her vocal skills? She’s a casual commentator, not the ringleader. She’ll bark when the other dogs do, just to make sure she’s part of the group, but she’s not the type to start the neighborhood gossip. Think of her as the friend who doesn’t start drama but will chime in with an “OMG, same".

So, if you’ve made it this far and haven’t already fallen head over heels for Inari, I don’t know what to tell you—she’s basically the perfect puppy, just with a side of introverted sass. She’s got the looks, the manners, and just the right amount of I’ll love you, but on my terms energy.

Now, here’s the deal: If you want to be deemed worthy of Inari’s presence, you’ll need to fill out an adoption application at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app so we can send it over to her foster family for approval. Once you pass the ultimate test (aka proving you’re cool enough for her), you’ll need to make the trek to Hutchinson, KS to pick up your new four-legged shadow.
