Meet Bella this gorgeous girl is looking for her forever home she's great with other dogs, LOVES water and playing fetch! Shes good with kids however when playing doesn't always know her size. She's very treat and toy motivated and already knows a few basic commands just from her stay here!! If you're looking for a BIG companion Bella is your girl!Puppies 6 months and under are typically $200 and dogs from 7 months to 6 years are typically $100.00. The adoption fee may be higher or lower than stated however, and is dependent on many factors including age, behavior, medical condition and demand. All dogs 7 years and older are free under our Saving Seniors program. We frequently run discount specials and occasionally a dog will be more than the stated fee.

Most cats and kittens are $35.00, however there may be instances in which the fee is higher or lower, due to age, behavior, medical condition or demand. With felines, we always have an "Adopt one, bring another one home for free" adoption special!

Our current adoption fee for dogs over 6 months is $85 and up. Puppies under 6 months are $100 and all cats and kittens are $35. Occasionally, we have reduced fees based on the shelter population. Cats and kittens are currently two for one adoption fee. This fee includes worming, age appropriate vaccinations, micro-chipping (for dogs), and basic spay/neuter costs. All animals will be spayed or neutered before going home.You may pay our adoption fee and do an adoption questionaire over the phone by calling 828-682-9510.

The Yancey Humane Society & Animal Shelter is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit corporation located in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, just 30 miles northeast of Asheville. We take all animals brought to us: strays, ferals, dogs, cats, and also, personal pets on a case by case basis. We provide a loving temporary home until they can be placed in a permanent home. We are not a "no kill" shelter, however, we do not euthanise for time nor space. We treat all animals as individuals and temperament test them for adoptability. This way, no one slips through the system, and we know each and every personality in the house.
