Cactus is a shy boy who made the long journey from Quebec in hopes of finding his forever home. Don’t be fooled by the name, he is anything but prickly!
ABOUT CACTUS: -At shelter -Young adult, domestic shorthair, male -Cactus is famous at the shelter for his chubby cheeks and “toupee”! -Cactus is a skittish cat who has had minimal experience with humans. -Cactus prefers a slower approach when getting to know people. He may let out an initial hiss, but he quickly warms up if you sit with him. -He likes being petted with the back-scratcher on his chin, cheeks, and forehead, but does not enjoy full body pets yet. -Cactus loves treats! After many taste-tests his favorites are Churu tubes and Temptations, though he’s always prepared to try something new! -Cactus’s favorite toy to play with is his wand toy. -Fast movements and loud noises make him nervous. He prefers a gentle approach. -Cactus is currently enrolled in EHS’s socialization program, where dedicated volunteers are working to help him become more comfortable around people. -Some skittish cats may remain reserved, while others may express their trust and affection in a variety of ways. -Cactus is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, SNAP-tested for FIV/FeLV, and is up to date on core vaccinations.
CACTUS’S IDEAL HOME: -A skittish cat will benefit from a calm, quiet environment, preferably without small children. -We aren’t sure yet how Cactus would feel about sharing a home with other animals. -Potential adopters should be prepared to commit the time, effort, and patience required to help Cactus settle into his new environment. EHS will provide post-adoption support to assist Cactus with a successful transition to his forever home.
