My name is Rusty but oftentimes my foster mom calls me Little Rusty. That's because I pretend to be a little baby when she holds me in her arms. I am around 7 months old.
I was found outside in pitiful shape. I was very skeletal, severely dehydrated and one of my eyes had ruptured. Heck, I can't even see out of the eye that remains but you would never know it! It doesn't stop me though. I'm pretty fearless and love everyone and everything. I'm grateful that someone fought to save my life. I would love a wonderful home with one of my kitty companions or another FeLV positive cat that loves cats.
It's important for you to know that have the feline leukemia virus (FeLV) in my system and I really shouldn't be around other cats that are considered "healthy."
I can't promise you that the life that I will live will be a long one but it is my hope whether it's a few months or many years that I will have the life that my heart longs for. I dream that I will one day know love like other "healthy" cats do... that I will be able to play like a kid at Christmas time surrounded by lots of kitty toys... I want to enjoy every bite of my tasty food ...Oh that I can sit by a window, look out and see nature at its best... maybe even become friends with a squirrel, a chipmunk and possibly even a little tiny bird that peers in the window to look at ME...I have visions of being in a real home with lots of space that enables me to feel like I have my freedom instead of living life in one room with so many other cats that are infected with the same virus. My heart aches for my own human to touch my fur every single day as they love on me. Whispering lips saying "I love you" just before kissing the top of my head. I want to know what it means to be cherished every minute of every day that I have. When my body decides it's time to take that journey out of this life and cross the "Rainbow Bridge," that my very special human will know that they gave me a GIFT of life that I could have never received without them. I trust they will not feel sorrow in my passing, but TREMENDOUS JOY in knowing that they were chosen to love me, but even more than that - I was chosen to love them during my time with them.
All HART kittens and cats are vet checked, combo tested, spayed or neutered, up to date on all vaccines, microchipped, and on flea and tick preventative.
If you are interested in any of our kitties, you must complete an online cat adoption application available at www.rescueahart.org/adopt/cat-application. The application will put you in touch with a HART volunteer.
