Hi, I’m Pearl!
I’m a three-year-old Jindo with a soft white coat and a bright, curious personality. I weigh 15.4kg (34lb) and have all the classic traits of my breed—intelligent, loyal, and independent. My journey hasn’t been easy, as I was rescued from a dog meat facility, but despite my past, I have a warm and affectionate heart. Now, I’m looking for a forever home where I can bond deeply with my people and thrive in a loving environment.
My Personality
I have a mix of confidence and caution. While I may initially show the reserved nature common in Jindos, I warm up quickly to most people, especially if treats are involved. I even roll over to show my belly once I feel comfortable. I haven’t had experience with young children, so I’d need slow introductions if they’re in my future home. I love human interaction and tend to be extra affectionate indoors, where I feel safest. If you’re not a senior citizen, I’ll likely approach you quickly with enthusiasm, as I tend to be more drawn to younger adults.
Social Skills
I get along well with dogs my size or smaller, but I have a bit of a leader’s personality and like to be in charge. If I join a home with other dogs, a slightly smaller or more submissive companion would be the best fit. While I don’t start fights, I can react if another dog challenges me, so careful introductions are necessary. When I meet other dogs on walks, I get very excited and can be a little overwhelming in my enthusiasm. I also have a strong reaction to cats, birds, and small animals—I will try to chase them—so I need a strong handler who can guide me and redirect my attention.
Energy and Activities
I have a moderate energy level. I enjoy my outdoor adventures but also know how to settle down afterward. Walks are my favorite, and I get incredibly excited when I know it’s time to go outside—I even do a little wiggle dance with my hips! I do tend to pull on the leash, especially when I want to go in a certain direction or catch a scent. I stop frequently to sniff, taking in everything around me. My future family should be prepared to work on leash training to help me focus and walk more calmly.
Training and Habits
I’m highly food-motivated, which makes training easier, but I also have a strong desire for food. I don’t guard my meals from people, but I can be so eager to eat that I might accidentally grab treats too quickly, so teaching me patience with food will be important. I don’t bark excessively, but I do alert bark when I see strangers. I’m house-trained and prefer going to the bathroom outdoors, but I can also use indoor pads when needed.
My Ideal Home
I would do best in a home with people who understand Jindo traits—loyal, intelligent, and independent. I need structure and guidance to help me build confidence and manage my excitement in new environments. A home with a yard would be great, but more importantly, I need regular walks and engagement. I’d love a family that can help me continue my training and provide me with both affection and leadership. If there are other dogs in the home, they should be smaller or have a more easygoing personality, as I naturally like to take the lead. A household without cats or small animals would be best.
Special Notes
I have a big personality with classic Jindo traits—I’m independent yet affectionate, loyal yet playful. My food motivation can be both a strength and a challenge, so working on patience with meals will help me thrive. I can be reactive on walks, so I need a confident handler to help me stay focused. I am a loving and curious companion who will bond deeply with my forever family. If you’re looking for a loyal, intelligent, and affectionate dog, I might be the perfect match for you. I can’t wait to meet you!
