Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Please visit leiashope.org for our adoption process.
Located in DECATUR, IL
Requirements:
Secure physical fenced yard
Canine Companion or mill dog experience
No small children
Lola is a former puppy mill dog. She is insecure and takes daily anxiety meds. She may be able to be weened off them once she settles in a new home.
Lola prefers women over men. She is ok with some men, but others she will bark at incessantly or even try to nip at them if they come to close. This is common for puppy mill dogs that were mistreated by men. She bonds quickly to women and will follow that person all over the house. She doesn't like her lady to be out of her sight and will want to sleep with her at night.
Lola is ok with older children (6+) but doesn't really interact with them. She would prefer they just let her be. So visiting children would be ok, but she would probably just ignore them.
Lola is easily scared of new sounds and environments and a secure physical fenced yard is required for her safety.
Lola's adoption is $400. She is spayed, current on vaccines, microchipped and on monthly flea and heartworm prevention. Visit leiashope.org for next steps.
PLEASE NOTE: We are a volunteer ran rescue with full time jobs. Please allow 7-10 days for application processing.
All of our dogs are in foster homes and a meet and greet is done ONLY after an approved application.
We do adopt out of the area. However, we do not ship or provide transportation. You must come to the location of the dog to meet and adopt. NO EXCEPTION. All family members and dogs must be present at the meet.
Dogs are a commitment for THEIR lifetime. For puppies this could be 15 years. If YOU cannot commit to the lifetime of the DOG, please do not apply. Puppies under 9 months must go to a home where there is someone home frequently (works from home or a partner is home), can adequately socialize and train the puppy, and can keep up with puppy energy!

We are a licensed foster based rescue. We rescue mostly seniors and special need dogs as these are normally the first to be euthanized in shelters.
Our Mission:
To rescue, rehabilitate and rehome unwanted dogs and find the best home for each dog in our care. Our belief is all healthy and treatable dogs, regardless of breed or age, have the right to life, happiness, and love.
