This helps Malinois and Dutch Shepherd Rescue, Inc. with pet care costs.
Are you looking for a full-on energy male Belgian Malinois? Ziggy could by your guy! Extremely athletic, Ziggy can jump over a 5 ft fence as easily as he jumped from a standing position onto the examination table at vet's office. Whoa, what? Very ball driven, and loves the tug, this boy has everything that a Mal lover who wants an active, athletic companion to enjoy agility, luring or other active dog sports with could ever desire. And while he is full of energy during the day, at night he loves to jump on the couch with his person, recieve loving pets and caresses, and relax.
Ziggy's foster says that he is well named, as he "zigs and zags" all over the place while running around and can turn/change direction "on a dime." He has only been in MAD a short time, and came with little obedience and a 100% zest for life. He has done well learning basic obedience in the short time he has been with his foster - his recall is good and he knows sit and down. And his leash walking is improving. Ziggy rides extremely well in the car, likes meeting new people at the pet store and at the vet's office, but don't rush the teeth exam, he is not a fan yet. He shows zero aggression towards people or dogs and likes kids, but would need to be closely supervised around them until he settles in, as he gets very excited around them.
Ziggy adores his foster dog sis, but she is older and not as much of a fan of him. He is dog friendly, and may need longer dog introductions in new homes due to his energy level unless the other dog matches his exuberance for life and ball. Which combined with his high prey drive, makes him not a great candidate for homes with cats or maybe small dogs. Or squirrels. Yup, definitely not squirrels.
Zig Zag Ziggy is a heck of a fun dog, full of energy, enthusiasm and delight. His ideal owner will have experience with Belgian Malinois as he is not a great fit for a first tiime Mal owner.
All MAD dogs come with a series 3 Fi Collar and a six-month subscription.
