Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Hank – The Gentle Soul with a Heart of Gold
Hank’s story is one of quiet resilience and transformation. He came to us as a stray, underweight, unsure of people, and a bit rough around the edges. But with patience, love, and time, Hank has blossomed into the calmest, most affectionate dog in our home—and we have five!
The Basics:
Breed: Mixed
Weight: ~65 lbs
Age: ~7 years
Training: House and kennel trained
Dog Friendly: Yes – though he’s more of a chill observer than a playmate
Cat Friendly: Yes – with proper introductions
Kid Friendly: Yes – with respectful kids aged 7+
Leash Manners: Excellent
Energy Level: Low – happy with short walks and long naps
Hank is a laid-back guy who roams the house freely at night, sleeps like a pro, and asks for nothing more than a soft spot to curl up. He’s not a high-maintenance dog. No long hikes or endless games of fetch required—just some gentle companionship, a little outdoor time, and maybe a couch to share.
He’s even come a long way with cats! While he was initially a bit barky and curious, he’s now perfectly fine living peacefully alongside them. He’ll still watch them with interest but doesn’t chase or bother them. Responsible introductions and monitoring are still a must, just to be safe.
Things to Know About Hank:
He’s the definition of a love bug. He’ll rest his head in your hands, close his eyes, and soak up the snuggles.
He’s sensitive to storms and fireworks—no shaking or drooling, just some panting and a strong desire to be close to his human. A little Benadryl (vet-approved) helps him through it.
Hank does have one boundary: he doesn’t like his collar tugged. Luckily, he’s great at responding to voice commands, so there’s really no need to ever yank on him.
Because of this, all children in the home should be old enough to understand and respect his space.
Hank might be a little reserved at first, but once he trusts you, he’s loyal to the core. He’s been through a lot and still chose to love. If you're looking for a steady companion with a big heart and an even bigger cuddle quota, Hank’s your guy.
