My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This 1-year-old sweetheart is the definition of chill. Durian loves nothing more than lounging by your side, soaking up head scratches, and purring his heart out. He’s a laid-back, cuddly guy who’s happy to spend his days napping in a sunny spot or snuggling up for movie night. If you’re looking for a calm, affectionate companion, Durian is ready to make your home his cozy paradise. Come meet him and fall in love!

I have tested positive for Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). FeLV is a cat specific virus that I came into contact with, either through my mother (at birth) or another cat`s saliva (from grooming or a bite wound). FIV is usually spread mating or via saliva (bite wounds). FeLV and FIV can cause a cat to be more susceptible to diseases that a healthy cat may be able to fight off. HSC does not know when I came in contact with FeLV or FIV. I need to be an indoor cat for the remainder of my life to protect me from exposure to diseases and should receive regular check-ups just like any other cat.

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Charlotte believes in working to improve our community by creating new, loving families, and building a world where there are no more homeless and unwanted animals. This is an ongoing process — for every animal we can connect with a new family, another animal in need comes to HSC’s shelter. As a private, 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the HSC relies on the generous support of animal lovers, grants, bequests, and fees for service.

HSC is not affiliated with any other animal welfare organizations and we do not receive government funding.
