Maya's Info

Possible breeds based on behaviors: Staffordshire/Pit Bull terrier mix
Age: 11
Weight: 50lbs
Vetting: fully vetted, preventions on 15th of every month.
Dogs: medium/large dogs only. She likes dogs who are easy going and playful. No reactive dogs or dogs who take time to adjust to partners.
Cats: no
Kids: no experience so would suggest a home without.
New people/situations: cautious until familiar, warms quickly with food and toys. Does not like to be squeezed.
Crate trained: yes
Leash trained: yes
Housebroken: yes
Basic obedience: Sit, stay, settle, down, kennel, leave it, come
Barker/Talker: not a Barker, talks when spoken to and when very excited. Not regular
Food response: good, responds quickly to all food.
Toy response: good, loves toys and chews
Possessive: mildly. Has exhibited minor possessiveness over toys to other dogs and people but nothing to cause concern in regards to management.
Reactivity: mild. Easily managed and controlled when supervised, will defend if provoked.
Chews and chewing habits: loves water Buffalo horns, enjoys chews regularly
Quirks: very sensitive. Knows her humans and is always eager to be at their side. Prefers humans over dogs. Likes to nap and cuddle together. Gets frisky when its time to go inside from going potty. Also likes to talk at you if you talk to her. Sounds close to the sound of a pigeon. Gets along with easy going, tolerant and savvy dogs.

If you're looking for a well rounded pair, then consider adopting her BFF Savannah alongside her too! They are the sweetest and easiest older ladies to spend your days with, no matter what you're day entails!

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process is quick and simple, taking approximately only 3-5 days to complete once started. Our requirements are as follows:
Must be 21 yrs or older to apply
All other pets must be current on vetting and be spayed/neutered
All animals must be living indoors unless they are farmlife.
Our dogs must be kept on a good quality food to preserve their quality of life
All dogs must be kept on preventatives unless otherwise specified by your veterinarian

Adoption Process:
First you fill out our application, and then we contact your veterinarian and references while you set up a time to speak directly with the foster that cares for the dog on a daily basis and can give clear, concise information on said dog. We offer out of state adopters a chance to meet their dogs via video such as Zoom and if decided upon, we finalize with the adoption fee and contract. Once those are in hand, we schedule a drop off time via rescue transport for you and your new pet to start life together!

Go meet their pets

Our adoption center is located in Willis Tx at our two acre property, however, we do allow and strongly encourage for out of state adoptions! All visitors must book an appointment prior to coming to our facility as it is not open to the public. More about this rescue

We are dedicated to preventing the abandonment and euthanasia of dogs by rehabilitation and behavior modification while providing education to rescues and the public. We teach rescues and pet owners the behavioral knowledge to prevent and manage unwanted canine behaviors. Providing this knowledge will lower the number of re-homed and abandoned dogs by giving pet owners the knowledge to prevent unwanted behavior from occurring.

We work diligently to understand our dogs behavior to help place them in the best possible home that they can call forever.
