Here's what the humans have to say about me:
NOTE: LULU IS WITH HER CARETAKER IN WINTERS, CA. GSRSV HAS NOT MET LUNA. WE ARE LISTING HER FOR ADOPTION ON THIS WEBSITE ALONG WITH OUR OWN DOGS TO GIVE HER MORE ADOPTION EXPOSURE. PLEASE SEE END OF THIS PROFILE FOR CONTACT INFO.
"Lulu" is a beautiful, 82-lb, 3-4 yo soon-to-be-spayed female GSD who is happy, playful and protective. Lulu is healthy and will be brought up-to-date on core vaccinations (distemper/parvo & rabies) when she is spayed on March 25.
Lulu is friendly towards strangers, both at home as well as out on walks. She is playful with children.
Lulu presently lives with a 13-yo male GSD who she gets along great with. She has not been introduced to any other dogs since she was taken in by her present person in early January.
Lulu has not been around cats in her present home. However, she has a strong prey drive towards squirrels so it would be prudent to seek a home without cats for her.
Lulu is kept outside exclusively in her present home, so it’s not known if she’s housetrained or not. She clearly wants to come inside, however.
Lulu is a good watchdog and alarm-barks appropriately.
Lulu tries to lead on leash initially when taken for walks, but settles down quickly then walks calmly. She has not seen other dogs on walks so it’s not known how she’ll react.
Lulu rides fine in a vehicle. She travelled all the way from Pasadena to Winters in January.
Lulu likes to play with squeaky toys and loves to swim in the pond & creek at her present home.
Lulu was one of the “orphans” from the Eaton fire in Pasadena in January. Lulu’s person lost his home, and an acquaintance of his arranged for his brother Alfredo, Lulu’s present caregiver, to take her in.
Lulu is located in Winters, CA. She is scheduled to be spayed on March 25 at the Sacramento SPCA.
If Lulu is adopted before she is spayed, there will be no adoption fee but a $500 spay deposit will be required to ensure the adopter follows through with Lulu’s spay appt. The adopter will then pay for Lulu’s spay and vaccinations, which will be approx $200. Once the adopter shows evidence of Lulu’s spay surgery, the $500 will be refunded. This will all be in writing.
If Lulu is adopted after she is spayed, a $200 adoption fee will apply.
Please contact Alfredo Ovalle at 312-285-5481 or alovaca@mac.com.

Rescue
This organization is committed to providing a positive adoption experience!
Learn more.
GSRSV became a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, charitable organization in March 2013. All donations to GSRSV are tax-deductible as allowed by law.
Since February 2001, Brian Foran has funded GSRSV primarily on his own. Donations have played--and continue to play--a huge part in keeping GSRSV afloat, as adoption fees are a drop-in-the-bucket compared with the costs of running a large rescue program.
To make a monetary donation, please go to the donation page on GSRSV's Website: www.gsrsv.org/DonationsNeeded.htm.
Thanks for your support!

Because I am an independent rescuer caring for many dogs, I am presently unable to conduct regular adoption or "meet & greet" events.
I only arrange for people to meet the dogs that I have available for adoption after I have discussed the dog and have received an adoption questionnaire from them.

More about this rescue
German Shepherd Rescue of Sacramento Valley (GSRSV) is an organization dedicated to finding good homes for German Shepherd Dogs (GSDs) at risk of being placed in shelters, or who are already in shelters and possibly facing euthanasia. GSRSV is an independent rescue organization operated by one individual: Brian Foran. Though countless volunteers and benefactors have supported--and continue to support--GSRSV, I run and primarily fund the program, as I have since February 2001.
