My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rocky / 1 yr 10 mo / Male / Mixed Breed / 29 kg / Rescued from Tennessee / Currently Fostered in Oshawa

Crate and House Trained / Good with older children (14+)

Meet Rocky: The ultimate cuddle champ with a heart of gold!

Rocky is a cuddly, fun and loving dog with a big personality and heart. His adorable facial expressions and goofy sleeping positions will have you in stitches. Whether it’s a walk, a sniffing game, or a frozen peanut butter Kong, Rocky loves fun activities and is eager to engage with his humans.

If you love cuddles and playtime, Rocky is your guy! Rocky craves human attention and loves being part of the family. While he spends most of the day lounging, his puppy energy and cheekiness tend to spike in the evening, requiring activities to keep him engaged. Rocky knows basic commands and is eager to learn, especially when treats are involved!

He does well meeting new people and quickly bonded with his foster family. While he loves attention, he can seek it in less desirable ways, such as mouthing or grabbing objects—especially during his evening zoomies. He has also shown reactive tendencies towards other dogs on walks. Since arriving at his foster home, Rocky has made great progress with training and positive reinforcement to keep him focused. Ongoing training will help Rocky refine his doggy etiquette.

Rocky would thrive with experienced owners who provide him with consistent training, mental enrichment, patience and plenty of affection. A home without small children is recommended, as his mouthing and jumping behaviours could be overwhelming. Given his playful nature, a house with a fenced backyard would be ideal.

Rocky Balboa once said, “Every champion was once a contender that refused to give up.” Rocky has the heart to go all the way with a family that will give him the chance and tools to succeed. Sounds like you? Apply for adoption: www.caninehaven.org/dog-application

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

To adopt one of our dogs, please fill out an application here (https://caninehaven.org/dog-application/).

Although we do our best to reply to all inquiries within 48 hours, please remember we are a 100% volunteer based organization, and many of us have full time jobs outside of rescue. We appreciate your patience.

Our priority is to ensure the fit is right for both you and the dog, we will reach out to your personal and veterinarian references (if applicable), and your landlord (if applicable). A virtual video or pictures of your place are required at the time of application.

You will then be granted a private meet and greet with the dog. If after the meet and greet, you would like to proceed with adoption, we will review your application internally and with the foster and make a final decision.

More about this rescue

Formed in 2013, a small scale dog rescue located in Ontario. We are a non-profit, volunteer-run, foster home based.

None of our dogs are boarded in kennels upon arrival.

We are dedicated in rescuing dogs from the Caribbean, Mexico and North America as well as local surrenders.

We place dogs in loving, responsible and committed permanent homes, following a comprehensive adoption process.

Animals in our care are spayed or neutered, receive all appropriate veterinary care and treatment and placed in nurturing foster homes while they await placement in their permanent homes.

We assist dogs in distress without regard to age, breed or ease of placement
