My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Penny, a sweet and affectionate senior cat looking for her forever home. Penny loves a calm and peaceful environment, where she can relax and enjoy her golden years in comfort. She's not a fan of loud noises or chaos, so she'd do best in a quiet home without young children. She can also be a little nervous of certain handling around her head due to some issues she had with her ears, and may let her displeasure be known with a little nip if her boundaries aren't respected. Penny is independent and likes things her own way, but once she feels comfortable, she's sure to bring a lot of warmth and companionship. She loves to be brushed which is important with her long fur coat and will rub and purr against you in happiness when she wants attention. She'll also find the comfiest places to have long cat naps. Penny is looking for someone special to spoil her in her senior years. Could it be you?

**PENNY IS NOT QUITE READY TO GO HOME AS SHE IS RECEIVING MEDICAL CARE. Potential adopters can speak to staff for more information. It is important, particularly for a senior animal, that regular vet checks are done.

If you are interested in adopting, please apply in person at the animal centre during public hours, or online at the link below.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort
