Update 3/19/25:
Toby is doing amazing! When he had his follow up appointment the Doctor said he was amazed how well he's recovered! He walks normal, runs, jumps up and down the sofa and plays just like nothing ever happened. The Doctor had said he may have a slight limp on the leg where he had surgery, but so far he doesn't have a limp. Toby is also a super cuddly boy and friendly with all his dog and cat foster siblings in his San Antonio foster home. Yeah for Toby!

One of our selfless rescuers just rescued a small chihuahua two weeks ago. He was hit by a car in front of her on her way to work. The person just got out and picked him up and put him on the side of the road and got back in her vehicle to leave. Our rescuer was on the other side and started yelling at her asking if she really wasn't going to help the poor little guy. The person said she wasn't the one who hit him and she couldn't take him and left.
Our rescuer couldn't believe it, so she put her hazard lights on and stopped traffic to go across the road and get the poor doggie from the other side. He had blood on his side and was making those noises that doggies make when they are going to die. She just didn't want him to die alone and in pain. She took him to a Vet ER, paid $1,800 and he survived! Now he needs surgery. She was quoted $3,500 there. She called vets around and another place gave me an estimate of $1,200 so he is having his surgery on Tuesday. She has personally taken on these costs and we need to help her fundraise.
She named this little fighter Toby. Toby is 1-2 years, 12 pounds.
Toby will undergo surgery and recovery in San Antonio, Texas. Once Toby is healthy he'll be available for adoption in Colorado!
