Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Pellets: 1/8 cup Adult Oxbow Essentials (AM)
Hay: Unlimited mixed hay (All day)
Salad: 1x/day 1 cup spring mix, romaine lettuce, cilantro, parsley
Lumi is a sweet and resilient 5-year-old rabbit with a story that tugs at the heart. When she was first adopted from us as a lanky teenage bun, her long arms, big floppy ears, and gentle personality quickly won everyone over. Sadly, she was later abandoned in a box without explanation. Thankfully, because all of our rabbits are microchipped, Lumi found her way back to SDHRS, where she is now slowly learning to trust humans again.
Lumi is a bigger girl with the silliest, most endearing floppy ears. She is considered a special needs rabbit due to her unique tendency to vocalize frequently—almost like a whimper. Initially, our vets suspected heart issues, but after extensive testing, including an EKG and CT scans, they now believe her vocalizations are unrelated to any heart condition.
Despite her past hardships, Lumi is a strong and lovable bun who just needs a little extra patience and understanding. She’s looking for a forever home where she can feel safe, loved, and truly at peace.
Spayed 01/24/20
Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus (RHDV) is a highly contagious and deadly disease that affects both wild and domestic rabbits. The virus is causing deaths in rabbits and hares native to North America and is spreading rapidly. In addition to detection of RHDV2 in wild cottontail rabbits and jackrabbits, RHDV2 has been confirmed in domestic rabbits on 50 premises, including a detection in a feral domestic rabbit. Please make sure to vaccinate your rabbits every year. For more information, please visit our website at: https://sandiegorabbits.org/education/rhdv

More about this rescue
We are a volunteer-driven organization working in San Diego County for nearly 25 years. We want to ensure that rabbits are not adopted out unaltered, that they find good homes where they will be cherished as indoor family companions, and that we educate our community on the responsible care of indoor rabbit companions.
