Meet Marie, a loyal and devoted companion for an experienced home. Marie is a stunning 5-year-old German Shepherd with classic good looks and a heart that, once won, is yours forever. This well-mannered girl enjoys her daily walks and, once she trusts her person, becomes completely devoted—putty in your hands.
Currently in the care of German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County, Marie was once in a loving foster home, but her protective instincts became too strong, leading her to guard her favorite person. Because of this, she needs an experienced home where her natural tendencies can be managed with patience and structure.
Marie is not suited for a home with children and will do best in a quiet, adult-only environment with minimal visitors. She can be wary of strangers, so a low-traffic home will help her feel secure. Due to her dry eye condition, which affects her vision, she can be easily startled and needs an understanding adopter who will give her the reassurance she needs.
Marie is intelligent, knows her basic commands, and is eager to keep learning. She thrives with an owner who understands the loyal and protective nature of German Shepherds and can provide the leadership she needs. She would prefer to be the only pet in the home, as she truly just wants to bond with her special person.
If you’re looking for a devoted, intelligent, and loving companion and you live a peaceful, private lifestyle, Marie may be the perfect match for you. She’s available for adoption in the Greater Los Angeles area—reach out today to meet her!

We ask you to begin by filling out an adoption application to express your interest in any of our animals. Once we receive the application and looked it over, we will contact you to answer any questions you may have about the pet and set up a meet and greet with the 4 legged friend you are interested in.
At that point, if you are interested in moving forward with the adoption, we will conduct a home check to make sure everything's good. We will ask you to sign an adoption agreement and ask for a donation for the adoption process.

More about this rescue
The Jason Debus Heigl Foundation was founded by Nancy and Katherine Heigl to celebrate the memory of a wonderful son and brother. In 1986, Jason was killed in a car accident. He was only fifteen years old.
Throughout his brief lifetime Jason loved all animals, especially dogs and cats and monkeys. He lived his life extending compassion and kindness to all creatures great and small. This foundation is his legacy.
The mission of the JDHF is to eliminate the needless suffering inflicted on animals by human cruelty, indifference, and ignorance. Our primary focus is the greater Los Angeles area, for now.
In pursuit of our mission, the JDHF routinely funds:
Our internal rescue group, the Heigl Hounds of Hope.
Other qualified rescue groups, via Networking donations.
The Transport of LA shelter dogs to states with great demand.
Free Spay Neuter procedures for the pets of qualified caretakers.
Compassion Education programs.
And we thank you for your support.
