Meet Sparky! Sparky is 7 years old and 11 lbs and we believe he is a long haired chihuahua mix. He is currents on shots, neutered but Heartworm positive. He has not symptoms and has been started on treatment. His treatment is included in his adoption fee. We expect Sparky will be heartworm negative after one year of the slow kill method.
Sparky has had it rough since birth. He was born with eyes that didn't fully mature. He isn't blind but sees only straight ahead. For that reason he is easily spooked by quick movements and those coming from the side but his response is just to jump away from the movement. Several times a day he gets eye drops to keep his eyes healthy. It is very easy to administer the eye drops. Even with his vision problems he is an active and social little guy. Sparky is housebroken with yard or piddle pads.
Sparky is very affectionate to humans, including children, and is other dog friendly. Loves to sleep in bed with his human or cuddle in chair. He enjoys going for rides in doggie strollers and being with his person. He does very well on a leisurely stroll on the leash and checks in often with his person by booping his nose on their leg just to make sure they are still there. He has a gentle soul and hopes to find a great home that understands what a treasure that is.
His adoption fee is $145. If you think your home might be a great fit for Sparky, please submit your application. Applications are found under the How to Adopt menu on our website at www.myhappytail.org or by copying this link into your browser: https://form.jotform.com/201527297286058

Additional adoption info
We look to match the dogs personality, energy, and size to the potential adoptive family lifestyle and dynamics. A family looking for a calm snuggle buddy is not a good match for a working dog that needs to be walked several miles a day to be content and successful in the home.
