My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Bernard – The Perfect Gentleman! Looking for a loyal, well-mannered companion? Bernard is your guy! This handsome 5-year-old Husky is the definition of a true gentleman—polite, easygoing, and always a pleasure to be around.

Bernard has impeccable manners and is as chill as they come. He walks beautifully on a leash, is crate-trained, and absolutely loves car rides—he’ll be your perfect road trip buddy! Whether you’re out for a stroll or relaxing at home, Bernard is happy just being by your side. He loves nothing more than resting his head in your lap, soaking up tummy rubs, and enjoying quiet companionship.

At a big but gentle size, Bernard would do best in a home with older children, as he might accidentally knock over little ones in his excitement. While he’s incredibly friendly and easy to handle, he’s not a fan of cats, so a feline-free home is best.

If you’re looking for a laid-back, loving, and well-behaved dog to complete your family, Bernard is ready to be your loyal best friend. Come meet this wonderful boy today—he’s waiting for a forever home to call his own!

Bernard is currently available for adoption in the Greater Los Angeles area, but transport may be possible for the perfect match.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process is a couple of steps.

We ask you to begin by filling out an adoption application to express your interest in any of our animals. Once we receive the application and looked it over, we will contact you to answer any questions you may have about the pet and set up a meet and greet with the 4 legged friend you are interested in.

At that point, if you are interested in moving forward with the adoption, we will conduct a home check to make sure everything's good. We will ask you to sign an adoption agreement and ask for a donation for the adoption process.

More about this rescue

The Jason Debus Heigl Foundation was founded by Nancy and Katherine Heigl to celebrate the memory of a wonderful son and brother. In 1986, Jason was killed in a car accident. He was only fifteen years old.

Throughout his brief lifetime Jason loved all animals, especially dogs and cats and monkeys. He lived his life extending compassion and kindness to all creatures great and small. This foundation is his legacy.

The mission of the JDHF is to eliminate the needless suffering inflicted on animals by human cruelty, indifference, and ignorance. Our primary focus is the greater Los Angeles area, for now.

In pursuit of our mission, the JDHF routinely funds:

Our internal rescue group, the Heigl Hounds of Hope.
Other qualified rescue groups, via Networking donations.
The Transport of LA shelter dogs to states with great demand.
Free Spay Neuter procedures for the pets of qualified caretakers.
Compassion Education programs.
And we thank you for your support.
