My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*** If you are interested in Pearl, please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ ***

Meet Pearl! Pearl is a 7 year old, 8 pound Chihuahua mix with a heart full of love to give. This brave little girl has endured some tough times, but her spirit remains as bright as her name. Pearl came to us from a rescue in Arkansas, where she ended up as an owner surrender after her previous owner was no longer able to care for her. Unfortunately, she wasn’t receiving the care she deserved, and she arrived covered in fleas, with a double ear infection, and significant hair loss from flea irritation. Pearl has since been treated, and has now arrived to Colorado healthy and happy and ready to find a home who would never let her get to that state again.

Pearl's skin is now soft, healthy, and completely flea-free! She is still recovering from her double ear infection, and while her ears are still healing, she has just seen our vet and started a new round of ear medication. This is her only remaining health issue, and we’re hopeful that with continued care, she’ll be all cleared up soon—possibly even before she finds her forever home!

Pearl is a very darling and super friendly girl. Here is what her foster has had to say about her:

* * * *

"Pearl has been such a joy to have in our home. Pearl is unbelievably sweet and calm, and she’s been doing so well with our family. She’s great with the kids (8 & 11) and even enjoys going with them to the school bus in the mornings. She walks beautifully on a leash, and after our little outings, she loves curling up in soft blankets for a good nap.

Pearl is such a well-mannered girl. She doesn’t beg for food, she’s completely respectful of the house rules, and she’s not disturbed by the usual noise and activity in our home. She’s curious and calm, and she never chews or destroys anything. In fact, she rarely even barks!

She is so happy about the warm weather! She was very delighted to find grass under all that snow in our backyard - she’s having a lot more fun outside now!

Now that we have established a routine, Pearl is potty trained and is not having accidents in the house!!! She will potty outside every time we take her out, and she is even requesting to go outside now when she needs to potty!
She’s getting a bit more adventurous, enjoying longer walks around Wonderland Lake; but napping in her pink blankie is still her favorite pastime. This little sweetie is too easy to love!!

She loves being with people, whether it’s sitting in our laps, playing hide-and-seek with the kids, or just riding along in the car. She’s also friendly with every person and dog we meet in the neighborhood, which makes her an absolute pleasure to take out on walks.

Pearl has been such a wonderful addition to our family while she’s been with us, and I know she’ll make her forever family just as happy. She’s loving, easygoing, and full of quiet charm. I can’t wait for her to find the perfect home where she’ll be as cherished as she deserves."

* * * *

Pearl would thrive in a home where she can continue to be loved and cherished as she deserves. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs and would love to share her life with a family who can offer her the comfort, stability, and companionship she's been missing.

Pearl has been fully vetted, is up to date on her vaccines, and spayed.

Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.
Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year.

If you are interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ .

**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue
