My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please contact Adoptions (adoptions@thalppc.com) for more information about this pet.

Looking for the perfect family dog? Meet Stevie (named after the beautiful Stevie Nicks). She is a 5 year old Shepherd mix that weighs 78 pounds. She was surrendered after her ower lost his job and was unable to care for her anymore.

Stevie has Flea Allergy Dermatitis (FAD) which is common in dog and occurs when their immune system overreacts to flea saliva. This caused Stevie to have inflamed skin and lose some of her hair. After a few vet visits, weekly medicated baths, and a triage of medications over the last month, her skin and hair have made a remarkable recovery which allowed her o finally get spayed. She is such a good girl and did great with all the baths and now she is done with all of her medications.

She is an excellent dog, an actual angel in disguise. All of the staff agree that Stevie is PERFECT . She knows many commands: sit, speak, shake, down, and “go lay down”. Stevie is potty trained, great with children and cats. We’re still getting to know how she feels about other dogs now that she is spayed, but so far so good! She’s a hardcore water hose lover and enjoys collecting toys on her bed. Everyday she has a new one that she’s “stolen” from our dog toy storage and her pile is pretty large now!

Stevie prefers being wherever the people are and loves to find a comfy dog bed to watch you work in whatever room you’re in. She has very good recall when off leash at the shelter and can be trusted to free roam when you aren’t home. Most of all, she is an excellent cuddle companion with the sweetest hugs you’ve ever gotten!!!

While the staff would dearly miss this angel of a dog, we believe there’s a perfect family out there waiting for her!

The adoption fee is $135 which includes a free veterinary exam within 2 weeks of adoption at local participating vets, up to date vaccinations, test for heartworms & heartworm preventative medication, dewormer, flea preventative, microchip, & spay or neuter.

More about this shelter
