My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Peter
Male DSH orange tabby
Estimated DOB 07/2023

Oh, Peter. This guy is the definition of an orange male cat. He is super social and wants to be wherever you are whenever you are there. It doesn't matter what door it is, if he hears it open then he wants to run through it. The funniest thing that he does is that after running through any door you open, he'll just plop down on the floor rolling around on his back and trying to figure out why he wanted inside so badly. He provides non-stop entertainment. He is a chatter box when he wants attention and loves curling up in bed to cuddle with you. His favorite things are watching out the window, challenging himself to get ontop of all of the furniture no matter how tall, and catnip toys.

Backstory: Peter was found late at night on the side of the road. When the finder stopped their car, he ran up to them and jumped right in. He was skinny and had a ruptured abscess on his shoulder. He was also sick with from likely an infection that caused cholangiohepatitis (inflammation of the liver and biliary system) and was severely anemic. This boy was so lucky that he was spotted by chance on a country back road in the middle of the night! Despite being sick, Peter did not skip a beat in being his chaotic little self. He was still playful and curious despite being in a serious situation. He was treated with high dose steroids and a strong antibiotic.

After 2 weeks, his bloodwork was completely normal. He even had an abdominal ultrasound which didn't find any concerns. So, what caused him to get sick before we found him? We have no idea, but he recovered better than we could have ever hoped which is all that matters!

Housing: Peter needs to be an only cat because he can be a bully sometimes. He may do okay with a larger dog as long as they aren't a nervous dog and has been around cats before.

Location: Peter is currently in foster

Medical: All cats are spayed/neutered, current on age approriate vaccines (rabies and distemper), microchipped, given flea/tick prevention and dewormer, FIV/FeLV tested, and any other veterinary care that is needed prior to adoption.
