My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Mia, the sweetest six-month-old Jindo mix with a stunning black and brown coat! Born on August 7, 2024, this spayed female currently weighs 12kg and is ready to find her forever home.

Mia is a social butterfly who adores people—whether familiar faces or complete strangers. She loves to nuzzle up to new friends and is always happy to be petted. She has no preference when it comes to men or women and is even comfortable being picked up and held with arms under her belly. While she hasn’t had the chance to meet children under 13, her gentle nature suggests she would get along well with them.

When it comes to other dogs, Mia is just as friendly! She eagerly greets both familiar and unfamiliar pups, inviting them to play. She has a special bond with her sibling, Fiona, often leaning on her for comfort—literally! She even sleeps with her head resting on Fiona. Mia tends to avoid larger dogs if they get too rough and prefers playing with dogs similar in size. However, she’s not too interested in high-energy playmates.

Mia has shown curiosity toward cats, sometimes chasing them on walks, but she may be able to live with a resident cat. A compatibility test can be arranged if needed.

Her energy level is moderate—she enjoys outdoor activities but settles down nicely afterward. Walks are still a learning experience for her; if she encounters something scary, she may drop flat on the ground. However, with encouragement, she quickly regains her confidence and happily trots along.

Mia is well-mannered when it comes to food—she has no resource guarding tendencies with people or other dogs. She is not prone to separation anxiety and primarily does her business outdoors.

Mia’s story begins in the small forest, where her mother gave birth to a litter. Sadly, the owner intended to send the puppies to guard field or sell them to a meat farm. Thankfully, Mia and her siblings—Sunny, Tiffany, and Fiona—were rescued before that could happen. Among them, Mia is the gentlest of the bunch.

If you’re looking for a loving, sweet-natured companion, Mia might be the perfect match for you!

More about this rescue

Adopt Korean Rescue is a volunteer-based federally registered not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping homeless and unwanted dogs in South Korea find a new home in Canada.

We love Korean dogs. Many of them live in chains, give birth on the side of the road, or wander around with their pups. Some of them get caught and end up at dog meat farms or high-kill shelters in South Korea. They luckily meet us just before euthanasia or after many years of living in dog meat farms. We exist to hold their paws and help them find a forever home in Canada full of joy and happiness.

Our dog rescue work depends on our flight volunteers. They help us safely bring our dogs from Korea to Vancouver or Toronto airports, where the dogs will find loving forever or foster homes.
