My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Socks is a charming 2.5-year-old domestic shorthair with a personality as unique as his name! This handsome boy is a lap cat at heart, but he prefers attention on his own terms. Having previously lived with a family, he’s comfortable around children of all ages and enjoys being part of a loving home—as long as he has space to do things at his own pace.

Socks loves playtime, especially wand toys and chasing balls, which help keep his muscles strong after having FHO surgery on his hind legs. Regular activity will be key in keeping him feeling his best! He can also be quite the talker and isn’t shy about letting you know when he’s in the mood for some snuggles or fun.

Socks has had surgery for a urinary blockage in the past, but with a special diet, he’s been doing great with no recurrences. He would do best in a low-stress home where he can fully relax and be his wonderful, affectionate self.

We’re unsure how he feels about other four-legged friends, but Socks is ready to find a home where he can be loved just the way he is. Could he be the perfect fit for you?

Socks is microchipped, up to date on vaccines and neutered

More about this rescue

Founded by Vivian Goldbloom in 2013, Emerald City Pet Rescue exists to rescue abused, neglected, and homeless animals from high-volume shelters around the country.

We pride ourselves on providing the best medical care possible for our rescued animals and rehabilitating hard-to-adopt animals to help them increase their chances of finding loving homes.

Our screening process includes meet and greets, reference checks, and a visit to the potential owner’s home to ensure the home and family are compatible with the pet’s needs and our requirements. We do everything we can to ensure that loving homes are found for these amazing pets.

Emerald City Pet Rescue is run by dedicated staff and volunteers who give their time and resources to house, train, rehabilitate, and care for our animals. Above all else, we truly believe that Love Can Save Lives.
