My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

HOW TO ADOPT: This cat is participating in our Shelter Cat Getaway foster program, which gives cats a vacation from the shelter and lets them enjoy home life while they wait to be adopted. To schedule a time to meet this cat, please contact Mary at mmccarroll@arl-iowa.org or Carol at cgriglione@arl-iowa.org.

Mama and Jelly Donut are Bonded Buddies. They'll be adopted as a pair.

- Friendly, sweet and shy kitty who enjoys being petted

- Likes catnip toys and loves her cat food!

- Can be easily startled and likes to have a 'safe spot' where she can run and sit

- She loves cat wands and she's a great hunter of her cat toys!

- Has very few teeth and will do best on a soft food, or canned food diet

- She is very bonded to her buddy, and both of them love each other very much and love to snuggle together - they will often sit next to each other and groom each other, which is very cute

- Not a fan of loud noises, so she's looking for a calm, quiet home

- Young children are not a good fit for her, so she and her buddy are looking for a more mature home

- Has done well with dogs and other cats

- She and her buddy are lovely cats who will make a wonderful additon to a calm, loving home

- Arrived cross-eyed from a previous eye injury, but it isn't causing any medical issues - it just makes her unique (more info at ARL)

This cat can be fearful and may need extra time to adjust to a new home. We've seen good progress here at the ARL, but don't be surprised if it takes several weeks for this cat to become comfortable in a new place. This cat may hide and just observe at first - maybe for quite a while - and that is perfectly normal. Young children are too much for this cat right now, so we are highly recommending a quiet, mature home. We are happy to provide post-adoption resources. If you can give this cat extra time, patience and TLC, please consider adopting! It will be so rewarding to watch them gain confidence and start enjoying all the good things in life!

All adoptable cats and kittens are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and FVRCP as appropriate for their age)
