Here's what the humans have to say about me:
NOTE: AVA IS WITH HER PERSON IN SACRAMENTO, CA. GSRSV HAS NOT MET AVA. WE ARE LISTING AVA ALONG WITH OUR OWN DOGS ON THIS WEBSITE TO GIVE HER MORE ADOPTION EXPOSURE. PLEASE SEE END OF THIS PROFILE FOR CONTACT INFO.
“Ava” is a beautiful, 70-lb, 1½-yo spayed female GSD who is friendly, energetic, and somewhat dominant. Ava is healthy and up-to-date on core vaccinations.
Ava is friendly with strangers, both inside the house and beyond. Her caretaker (Joe) has yet to introduce Ava to children.
Ava appears to be somewhat under-socialized with other dogs. She initially co-existed well with a mellow 8-yo male GSD. The two dogs would rough-house constantly. After about three weeks, though, Ava tried to exert dominance over the male GSD, which led to a brief fight. Since that time, the two dogs have been kept separated.
Ava has not been around cats since Joe adopted her, so a home without cats would be best for her.
Ava is housetrained and well-mannered inside. Joe keeps her in the living room when he is gone. She sleeps at the foot of Joe’s bed.
Ava walks OK on leash; she pulls a bit but is continually improving. She obeys some basic commands such as “sit” and “stay.”
Ava enjoys riding in a vehicle and is a mostly polite passenger.
Ava enjoys playing with squeaky toys and especially her rubber “Kong.: (See elsewhere on this page for a video of Ava carrying the Kong around.)
Joe adopted Ava from the Woodland animal shelter in December 2024, where she had been for over three months. Joe is now seeking a new home for Ava because she does not get along well with his 8-yo male GSD, who was in his home first.
Ava is located in Sacramento, CA. Her adoption fee is $100.
Please contact Joe Tinetti at 916 446 5583 or joetinetti@sbcglobal.net.

This organization is committed to providing a positive adoption experience!

GSRSV became a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, charitable organization in March 2013. All donations to GSRSV are tax-deductible as allowed by law.
Since February 2001, Brian Foran has funded GSRSV primarily on his own. Donations have played--and continue to play--a huge part in keeping GSRSV afloat, as adoption fees are a drop-in-the-bucket compared with the costs of running a large rescue program.
To make a monetary donation, please go to the donation page on GSRSV's Website: www.gsrsv.org/DonationsNeeded.htm.
Thanks for your support!

4. Go see the dog you're interested in--at my rescue facility, at the home of the dog's foster caretaker, or at the home of the dog's owner.

Because I am an independent rescuer caring for many dogs, I am presently unable to conduct regular adoption or "meet & greet" events.
I only arrange for people to meet the dogs that I have available for adoption after I have discussed the dog and have received an adoption questionnaire from them.

More about this rescue
German Shepherd Rescue of Sacramento Valley (GSRSV) is an organization dedicated to finding good homes for German Shepherd Dogs (GSDs) at risk of being placed in shelters, or who are already in shelters and possibly facing euthanasia. GSRSV is an independent rescue organization operated by one individual: Brian Foran. Though countless volunteers and benefactors have supported--and continue to support--GSRSV, I run and primarily fund the program, as I have since February 2001.
