My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Claire, a charming feline resident of our shelter. She's an adult cat with a heart full of love. Claire has a knack for making friends, both with humans and her fellow felines. Her sweet, friendly nature makes her a joy to be around. She's always ready to share a purr or a playful paw tap. Claire is a great listener, often purring contentedly while you share your day with her. She's also a fan of feline companionship, making her an excellent addition if you already have cats at home. Adopting Claire means bringing a bundle of joy and friendship into your life. Her sweet disposition and friendly nature make her the perfect companion for any household. Give Claire a chance to fill your home with love and happiness.

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Scott County (HSSC) has been an advocate for the humane care of all animals in Scott County, Iowa, since 1902.

An average of 500 pets arrive at the HSSC each month. About 80% come to us as strays and the rest are surrendered by owners who can no longer keep or care for their pets.

The HSSC is a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization funded entirely by donations, adoption fees and a fee charged to the city and county for the care of the animals.
