Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Woody – A Senior Pup with a Big Heart! This amazing boy has the most unbelievable transformation we have ever seen.!!
Woody is a 10-12-year-old cocker spaniel-poodle mix who weighs just under 20 pounds. He’s been through a lot, but nothing can stop this little guy from enjoying the simple joys of life.
Found as a stray and rescued from a city shelter, Woody’s past is a mystery. What we do know is that he endured years of neglect before finding his way to Norcal Cocker Rescue in January. His coat was matted, his body was emaciated, and he struggled with limited use of his hind legs. We weren’t sure if he would make it, but Woody made an amazing comeback. With some nutritious food and lots of love, this little guy rediscovered his will to live and now embraces every day with excitement and joy!
Woody’s absolute favorite thing in the world is going for walks. He may not see well in the dark, but he’s thrilled with a nice 20-minute stroll during the day. He has excellent leash manners and doesn’t need much activity—just a short walk and he’s content. Potty training is coming along nicely, especially with a regular walk routine. He likes to go to bed early (around 8 pm), sleeps for about 12 hours, and wakes up every morning full of joy, ready to embrace another beautiful day.
Woody is an easygoing old fella. He lives with several cats and is great with them, as well as other dogs. He respects other dogs’ boundaries but enjoys the company of younger, playful pups too. Currently, he shares his foster home with a large senior dog and his best friend—a spirited 2-year-old cocker spaniel.
Though Woody’s past has left him with some lasting challenges, they don’t stop him from living life to the fullest. He has mild kidney disease, a grade 2-3 heart murmur, and arthritis. He also has limited vision and hearing, but none of that slows him down. Woody is looking for a quiet home where he can relax and enjoy the love he deserves.
If you’re looking for a sweet companion who has truly experienced a second chance at life, Woody might just be the perfect fit for your home. He’s got a heart full of love to give and will surely brighten up your world.
