Fantasia You know, I was just looking at my photographs and was pleasantly surprised. I am 10-years-old, have the typical complaints of most senior cats, and have a disease that is being treated with diet and medicine. But I look years younger than I am. I weigh only 6.1 pounds, with a short grey and white coat and a bubblegum pink nose. To top it all off, I arrived as a stray kitty on January 21. No one had been taking care of me until I got here. The good thing is I was already spayed and knew my way around a litterbox. The bad thing is I was declawed on my front paws and found outside with no defense. The doctor`s exam revealed that I was affectionate, vocal, alert, and responsive. I preferred wet food over dry food. Testing also indicated I have 3 lesions on my liver and some changes to one of my kidneys. But my blood work didn`t show any abnormalities. To summarize, I have a liver disease that could affect my life span. Or it can be well managed with medications and diet, and I can live for several more years. It`s all about my owner managing my symptoms with meds/ diet and monitoring me for any changes. I will need a diet designed to control my liver values and a liver supplement called Denamarin. The HSHC staff will provide all the information you need to care for me. The interviewer lady (IL) visited me several times and told me I needed to stop smoking. She`s referring to my old lady meow, which is a little rough. I let her pet me all over, even after being teased, cause I am a friendly gal. But today, I had just been given my medicine, and I hated the taste, so I pouted behind my litterbox. If you agree that I look hot for a senior citizen, I`d like to talk to you about living together! 4-1-25

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.
This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
