My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bear is now 15 weeks old and has had his second set of vaccines

He is currently 27lbs and should be a medium to large breed as the vet said he might reach about 70 - 80lbs. He is currently eating Royal Canin large breed 3 cups 3 times a day.

He is not fully housetrained yet but almost there using the pee pads when necessary but is getting used to letting us know he needs to go to the bathroom. We are trying to train him with a doggy doorbell and it is going well.

He has not been destructive when left alone but he always had a doggy companion with him so he has never really been alone. He is currently teething has not destroyed anything but will occasionally chew his puppy pads.

He is living with 2 other dogs and loves being around them and plays very well with them. A home with another dogs or kids that would engage with him would be great; he's got a little separation anxiety but it is getting better. Once he is done playing he is the biggest cuddle bug that prefers to fall asleep in your arms after giving you a million kisses. He sleeps throughout the night curled up in bed and loves to be touching his human as he snores.

He is friendly with every human (including children) and every dog that he has ever met as we have been socializing him with all kinds of different activities. He has done well in the car so far and is very smart already learning commands like sit, paw, down and wait. He does well on a leash so far. I can’t say anything about cats and he has not been around them yet but I can’t see it to be a big problem.

For having some hound in him he is not very vocal at all and I have only hears him bark when he is playing with other dogs. He does not seem to be reactive or has any food guarding. He will let us take things without issue

He is an amazing puppy with plenty of energy, lots of fun and an amazing personality that will keep you laughing all day. He is an absolute joy to have and will bring any family who adopts him lots of happiness.

He is one of the best behaved puppies that have been in our home.

Additional adoption info

Our process begins with an online pre adoption questionnaire followed by a telephone interview
Once both have been completed we consider suitability and if we feel the adoption candidate is a potential match we arrange a meet and greet with the dog you are interested in
From there we schedule a home visit and check personal and veterinary references.

Who are we?
Speaking of Dogs Rescue Program is a Canadian registered charity. We are a volunteer-based dog rescue in Toronto that is dedicated to assisting dogs from shelters as well as taking in dogs surrendered by their owner when space allows. We have a focus on helping senior dogs. Our dogs are lovingly cared for in foster homes until we find them a suitable forever home.

Foster Homes
Sadly, each new day brings a flood of emails and telephone pleas to help yet another abandoned dear dog. We try and help these displaced dogs through our rescue efforts and networking. We are always in search of new foster homes where a dog can be cared for and loved until a permanent home is found. Speaking of Dogs Rescue covers food, medical attention and all the supplies required for the dogs in foster care. Foster parents need be responsible and patient people who will provide a safe environment for our dogs. A foster contract must be signed. This is a serious responsibility; however the experience is very rewarding. If you can open your heart and home to a foster dog please contact us. We have a comprehensive Foster Manual available for people who are considering becoming a foster parent.
