Meet Takoda, a delightful puppy with a heart full of joy. Takoda was found with his brother and sisters during a freezing day in January 2025. They were about 2 months old and wouldn’t have survived the night without help. He has been waiting for his forever home for months but is very hopeful his turn will come soon. In the meantime, his days are spent exploring every nook of his surroundings, always with a goofy grin and a wagging tail. Smart and quick to learn, Takoda has mastered house and leash training with ease. His playful and energetic nature makes him the perfect companion for fun-filled days and his curiosity keeps every moment interesting. Above all, Takoda’s sweet and friendly demeanor makes him a wonderful addition to any family looking for laughter and love. HART’s board is comprised of Houston-area people who have long been active in dog rescue, and who want to make a difference in outcomes for stray dogs and those surrendered to local shelters. We are a kennel-based system built on a beautiful property in Tomball, Texas.
Rescued dogs are fully vetted and, when ready, adopted out on-site at the facility, or through meetings with fosters. HART also coordinates with shelters in the northern U.S. to find homes for dogs that aren’t adopted locally. Additionally, HART provides information, education and community advocacy to improve animal welfare, via adoption and fundraising events, visits to schools, and through social media. We are working with a dedicated group of volunteers to reaffirm that Houston has a terrific HART.
