Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Beaux - Lab Mix - Male - 2.5 yrs - www.twyla.org
If you'd like to know more about this dog please visit our website at www.Twyla.org
Meet Beaux: this gorgeous Boy is about 2.5 years old, about 60 lbs and a little timid. You see, he was stray for quite a while and learned to feed himself by hunting. Up to that point, most Humans he had encountered had not been nice to him, so when he finally trusted his now foster enough to allow himself to be saved, he just started his journey of confidence building and embracing being a house dog.
Beaux has a pretty high prey drive - this is how he survived - so he is unsuitable for living with cats, small dogs or other small animals. Now he is very easily redirected when he sees something like a squirrel on a walk, a simply "No, sir!" and slight tug on the lead is all it takes, but one does have to see the squirrel before he does. He thrives with structure and guidance as he does not want to make decisions pertaining to his safety. He could do well as an only dog, but likely would benefit from a big, calm, confident companion dog or gentle playmate, we are stil testing to see how far playdates can be stretched. He walks very nicely on leash and is crate trained.
so Beaux is looking for a moderately experienced handler, with or without a larger, calmer dog - NO CATS - and possibly older kids. He get startled by very sudden or loud movements, so small kids are probably not a good match.
***Please note: All dogs are fostered in private homes of volunteers, so to meet a dog please fill out an Adoption Application on our website (http://www.twyla.org/adopt/our-adoption-process) so we may setup a private meetup with the dog or coordinate for an Introduction at the next general Adoption Meet and Greet (as listed on our website: (http://www.twyla.org/upcoming-events), as not all dogs attend all Meet and Greets***
