Dolly’s foster family is already missing her! She’s really a perfect girl and she only deserves the best of everything. Dolly came from circumstances that were not ideal. Her coat had to be shaved due to neglect but is growing in beautifully.
Dolly came into rescue very depressed and withdrawn. With love and attention, she has blossomed into a sweet, funny and loving girl. Just a real joy to have around. Looks like a puffy little puppy with a hop in her step!
Dolly is excellent in the house and has done well with her foster families’ cats. They do feed them separately because Dolly is preoccupied with food and must be kept on a healthy diet to continue her weight loss journey. She was extremely overweight when she came into rescue so she did not feel well. Now that she is at a healthier weight, Dolly has lots of energy to play and loves the snow and snowballs. She loves leisurely walks and gets good exercise, sometimes in the morning and evening. She doesn’t walk fast but at a good pace (a little slower at the end!). A chondroitin supplement helps her joints stay limber and is necessary daily for her continued comfort.
Dolly is happy sitting by your feet for TV time in the evening, too. She has a good amount of energy for her age and is always ready for an adventure. Hops in the car and rides well, too! She’s just an all-around easy-going girl as long as she has her person. Dolly is very intelligent and likes learning new things. Dolly will need a semi-active person that likes to walk with her to help her lose those last stubborn pounds. Dolly can be trusted in the house and her foster mom leaves her alone when she goes out to work part time. She is not typically a barker inside but will bark when a snowplow or louder truck passes by the house. If the doorbell rings, Dolly will alert to it and she will be concerned but she is very friendly with visitors once they come in. Her foster family appreciates her looking after the house!
Dolly has many good years ahead of her. Like all of us, Dolly has some quirks (not liking her legs brushed or pushing her Collie nose in your lap during TV time) but she is funny, kind, sweet and a pleasure to spend time with and it’s wonderful to have a dog who is always eager to meet new people and dogs.
If Dolly strikes your fancy and you are ready to help him continue to be the best Collie citizen ever, please fill out an adoption application today! Don't wait! TRI STATE COLLIE RESCUE VOLUNTEERS have been professional breeders and dog show exhibitors, and we have more then 50 years of combined professional experience with the collie breed. In addition, our group includes devoted collie owners and lovers. We are listed as a recognized rescue group with the COLLIE CLUB OF AMERICA
OUR MISSION:
To end the indiscriminate breeding practices of irresponsible breeders, to educate the public about the lifetime responsibilities of caring for a pet, including the necessity of spaying and neutering, and to promote the return of undying love and devotion collies offer their owners. Too many purebred collies are found as strays, in dog shelters, or in the humane societies. We hope to eliminate the euthanasia of these collies.
