My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Hershey – a sweet and slightly shy German Pointer mix who’s looking for the perfect forever home! Hershey and his sister were found abandoned on a local highway, and sadly, no one came forward to claim them. Now, Hershey is ready for a fresh start and a home where he can receive the love and care he deserves.

Born around July 27, 2024, Hershey is a bit shy at first, but with some gentle encouragement, like a good game of fetch or some sweet belly rubs, he’ll quickly warm up and become your loyal friend. He’d do well in a home with other dogs his size and older, respectful children. Hershey just needs some time to adjust and feel comfortable in his new environment.

Hershey is scheduled to be neutered and receive his remaining vaccinations later this month, but he’s already accepting applications! If you think Hershey could be the perfect fit for your family, visit our website at eastshoreha.org to submit your application. Once your application is processed and approved, our staff will contact you to schedule a personal meet-and-greet.

Keep in mind, Hershey will be available to go home later this month, so don’t wait—apply today and get ready to welcome this sweet boy into your family!

Additional adoption info

Before You Adopt: Please consider these factors before filling out an application:

1. Animals are expensive to care for. They require food, shelter, toys, grooming, and veterinary health and dental care.

2. Animals require attention. You have to clean up after their messes, protect them from anything that might harm them, and make sure they get adequate play time and exercise. Some require training, which takes patience, love, and commitment.

Adopting a Friend: Adopter will fill out an application to start the adoption process. We don't adopt on a first come, first served basis, but instead adopt based on what we feel is in the animal's best interest. We DO NOT ship animals.

Adoption Requirements:

1. Have verifiable identification

2. Be at least 18 years of age

3. If renting, have landlords consent to bring a pet to your home

4. All adopted pets must be spayed or neutered

5. All pets must leave the shelter on a collar and leash, or in a pet carrier

6. Agree to all terms of the adoption contract; ESHA reserves the right to deny any application
