Woody is a 4-year-old mixed breed with a heart as big as his love for treats! This handsome guy is a social butterfly who absolutely loves playing with other dogs. He even tolerates the resident cat! Woody is currently working on getting to a healthy weight, but with all the love (and snacks) he's getting, he’s well on his way.
He’s crate trained and almost completely housetrained—just the occasional accident here and there. He’s also working on perfecting his leash skills and is making great progress! At night, Woody sleeps peacefully, dreaming of his forever home. If you're looking for a fun, loving, and treat-motivated companion, Woody is your guy!
When Woody arrived at Anderson Animal Shelter from their partner shelter in Oklahoma, he tested positive for Heartworm. The staff believes that the best place for Heartworm-positive dogs to recover is with a loving and forever family like yours.
If you choose to adopt Woody, the clinic staff will be there every step of the way, answering questions and offering support. The treatment process typically lasts about three months and involves simple at-home steps to ensure his safety and comfort. The final step is a follow-up test six months after treatment begins to confirm his recovery.
The Heartworm treatment process is highly successful, and the staff anticipates that Woody will make a full recovery! It’s also important to note that Heartworm can only be transmitted from animal to animal by mosquitoes. With a little care and patience, Woody will soon be healthy and ready to enjoy life with his forever family!

Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (6 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Their adoption also includes a free-vet exam at one of our participating veterinarians.
