My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

***If you're interested in adopting Scarlet, please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. ***

Meet Scarlet! This adorable, 1 year old pup has a story of resilience and hope. Scarlet was found wandering alone on a sidewalk in Houston, TX. She is so social and happy that she just wiggled her body right over to a person walking and they brought her to a local shelter. Unfortunately, it was a high-kill facility where few dogs get a second chance. Thankfully, we received an urgent plea to save her life—and how could we resist this sweet, lovable girl?

Scarlet weighs 16 lbs and is believed to be a Dachshund / Beagle mix. She’s a perfect blend of two beloved breeds, with her long body, soulful eyes, and happy-go-lucky personality.

Here’s what Scarlet’s foster has to say:

* * * *
“Oh my gosh, this little long-bodied girl is absolutely gorgeous! She’s all hugs, kisses, and wiggles!

She loves my dogs, and gets along great with them. She's all around super super friendly! One day she caught a glimpse of her reflection in the fireplace and thought it was another dog and just stood there staring at herself, wagging her tail super fast!

She is 100% potty trained (woohoo!) and does ALL of her business outside.

She sleeps in a crate at night and is quiet and sleeps through the night.

She "sits" for a treat. She loves to go on walks. She is an A+ cuddler! She likes toys, and eating food, and hanging out with us. She pulls the toys all out of the toy bin and is not picky about food or treats at all. She is SUCH a great little girl!!!"

While we don’t know if Scarlet has had any formal training, she’s the perfect age to learn! Positive reinforcement training helps build trust, confidence, and lifelong good behavior. Farfel’s requires adopters to commit to a training program—whether virtual or in-person—to ensure a successful transition for Scarlet and her new family. We provide every adopter with recommendations for highly regarded, force-free trainers in your area.

Scarlet is fully vetted, up-to-date on all vaccinations, and spayed.

Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.

Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year.

**PLEASE NOTE**. If you're truly interested in adopting Alfie please be sure to submit the Farfel's Rescue adoption application that can be found at the link above or at farfels.com. Rescue site applications such as Petfinder or Adoptapet don't provide enough information for us to determine a great match for this very deserving dog and therefore aren't useful. We're sorry, but in many circumstances, we're unable to get back to those those that don't submit a Farfel's adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue!
