Animal Profile: Hobbes is an estimated 2-year-old, 60 lb neutered male heeler mix.
Foster Update: Calling all herding dog lovers! This guy is a dream! Hobbes has really come out of his shell a lot since his first week here. He has become quite the lap dog and loves to lay next to (or ON) either me or my husband. He’s gets playful spurts and zoomies but he doesn't necessarily have high exercise needs. He is looking for an active family, but you don't have to hike 10 miles a day with him.
Hobbes walks wonderfully on the leash, and pays a lot of attention to you while walking. He has gotten to the point where he will stand by our glass door if he needs to go out and is basically fully house trained now. He does very well in his crate and has been taking his meals in there and sleeping in it at night with no issues.
His personality is very goofy, and since getting comfortable in our home he has been very quick to warm up to people who enter the environment. He has a funny habit of wanting to stare deeply into your face from about 1 inch from your nose. Hobbes would be fine as the only dog in the home or with a smaller female dog. He has not been in a foster with kids, but dog respectful children 12 plus will be considered. Breed experience is a plus.
Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.
