My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

***The first step in the adoption process is to complete the application at www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org***

Are you looking for a full contact kitty with no personal space or boundaries?  Would you like a pet with the energy of a dog, but you don't have to go out to go potty?  Have you ever thought.... gee, it might be fun to have a flying squirrel?  Do you think you have too many Knick knacks but wouldn't mind losing a few to a cat parkouring off your shelves and curio cabinets?  And are you really into the whole theory that orange cats only possess one brain cell? If you have said yes to the above questions, we have got the purrrrfect cat for you! This is Hawk!  Hawk is a little bit nutty, naughty and neurotic!  BUT! He has so much love and affection to give even is on occasion he uses his little teefs to tell you how very much he loves you!!!! Hawk is up for an adventure and in fact that is kinda what got him into trouble in the first place. Hawk rode in the under carriage of a pick-up that had gone back and forth to a neighboring town not once but twice before he was discovered and extricated from under the vehicle.  Maybe the bumps in the road shook his little brains up or maybe he was just born this way we shall never know!  But what we do know is that if you choose to bring this little orange furry of fur into your home you will never be bored again!!!!!  Hawk is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and FeLV/FIV negative.  As always, our cat/kitten adoption fees are free will to approved applicants.

***update....since this original bio was written for our sweet guy Hawk, he had FIP or Feline Infectious Proteinosis.  We encourage you to look that up to learn more.  We are so incredibly happy to announce that Hawk is in full recovery and our very FIRST FIP kitty to have been treated and recover!!!!! Hawk also nearly lost an eye to his disease but with dedicated care and much strength on his part his beautiful eyes are also fine now too.  So this guy was super special prior to his diagnosis and treatment and now even more so.

Go meet their pets

Check out all of our pets online at www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org or send in an application to meet a specific pet! Once our shelter is open for operation stop in during our open hours to visit with a fuzzy friend in person.

More about this shelter

The ECAS is an all volunteer, no kill shelter. Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome pets in need due to neglect, abandonment, abuse or from simply not being wanted! We started in 2010 due to a need in our community. We are currently a foster based organization and we are currently building our new shelter facility. We work hand in hand with other rescue and shelters in the area to help out when and where we are needed.
