My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Microchipped, DOB March 13, 2014

Mushmush (Mushy) is a large, friendly and affectionate cat with the softest meows and the gentlest nature. He is a laid-back, independent soul who enjoys the simple pleasures in life: napping, chilling, and occasionally watching bird TV on YouTube. With his easygoing demeanour, Mushy is the perfect companion for anyone who loves having a quiet, low-maintenance friend with whom to share their days.

Whether you are relaxing on the couch or watching a movie, Mushy is happy to keep you company. He is never demanding, and simply loves lounging next to his humans, purring contentedly while enjoying their presence. His patience and mild-mannered personality make him a joy to be around, and he is always well-behaved and adaptable to new environments.

Mushy is also a social cat that enjoys meeting new people. He is calm and friendly with visitors, and he gets along well with other cats, having lived with one in the past.

While he is overweight at 21 pounds and currently on a diet, he still enjoys playful moments; his favourite activity is chasing wand toys, especially the wired ones, which provide great exercise and help him stay active on his weight loss journey.

Mushy will gently bump or rub against you to let you know he is ready for some affection. But while he loves being petted, it is important to respect his boundaries, especially as he is declawed in the front paws, and therefore may resort to biting if overstimulated, since that is now his only means of self-defense. To keep things comfortable for him, avoid touching sensitive spots like his lower back and his paws. Gentle, soft scratches on his head and jaw are generally safe, as long as you do not hover your hand near his face, which he may perceive as a threat. A few soft, short strokes on his back are also fine.

Mushy is looking for a calm, understanding adopter who can read his body language and respect his cues. If you are ready for a mellow, affectionate cat who will simply enjoy hanging out by your side, Mushy may just be the perfect companion for you!

Thank you for welcoming a senior cat into your family - an adoption fee of your choice is appreciated, vs. our standard adult cat adoption fee of $225.
