Bowden oh Bowden, how truly wonderful you are. Bowden is a 1 year old Terrier mix who recently came into our care as a stray on January 24th 2025. This independent boy lives to spend his time in the play yards smelling all the blades of grass and picking up all the leaves he can. He is an independent boy who prefers to just do his own thing. However he is very dog friendly and would love another friend to explore with. Bowden knows how to sit, is up to date on vaccines, and ready to find his forever home. He is Heartworm positive but please don`t let that turn you away as our HSSM Wellness Clinic does discount treatment for adopters. We know that big heartworm positive dogs are the hardest to get adopted and often overtime will become longest residents. Don`t let that be Bowden! Please come meet him today!

HSSM is home to over 300 pets on any given day, most of which are looking for new forever homes! Your new best friend could be waiting at HSSM right now. Our beautiful, 41,000 square foot facility is currently open to the public. HSSM is open for adoptions Tuesday – Friday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. No appointment is necessary to adopt, however, adoptions are first-come, first served. You must come to HSSM to complete your adoption and make sure you bring a photo ID, as it is required to complete adoption paperwork.
Our adoptable animals page is self-updating and displays ALL of HSSM’s adorable adoptable pets from “pocket pets” to birds and of course the hundreds of dogs and cats currently calling HSSM home! See one you like? Make sure you note your favorite’s name and animal ID number so that HSSM staff and volunteers can easily find him/her when you come in!
Adoptions are cut off every day about 30 minutes prior to closing and possibly earlier if volume is high. Weekends are busy and you may have to wait more than an hour (especially in the afternoons) so please be prepared.
