Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Kento is a sweet boy who was rescued back in September 2024 off the euthanasia list at an overpopulated shelter in the South. He is super handsome, in perfect health, has a beautiful shiny coat and sleek, long legged, athletic structure. He is very friendly and gentle with people (adults and children) and loves meeting new human friends. While he is very dog friendly and always interested in meeting new dogs, he does struggle to keep his enthusiasm in check, leading to a rough play style that is not a good match for all dogs. This has made it difficult to keep him enrolled in doggie day care as his rough play has caused concerns about his own safety and the safety of his canine playmates. Given these behavioral tendencies and the fact that he they are out of the house most of the day, his initial foster-to adopt family is unable to devote the time and energy necessary to address these issues before they are too ingrained and is consequently looking to rehome Kento to an adopter or new foster-to adopt situation. Kento’s ideal adopter will be someone who wants to and has a schedule that will enable them to spend the time necessary to train and closely monitor Kento when at play, to build his capacity to read and respect the cues of other dogs, and who does not need to be away from home for long stretches of time which would require a daycare situation. Kento is good on leash though he may pull a bit if he is distracted but needs someone to work with him on off-leash recall to ensure he is safe both on and off leash. He is curious about cats but does not seem aggressive with them, though his interaction with them should also be monitored to avoid any unintended mishaps! Kento would be best placed in a home with a securely fenced-in yard (Kento is a good jumper) with an athletic or very active person, couple or family that is looking for a loyal companion to take on outdoor adventures. Kento is very smart and eager to please but also strong willed with a lot of puppy energy, so he needs someone who can give him structured and consistent guidance and training. Village for Paws Rescue is offering an in-home training session with our trainer which will provide the tools to get this young boy on his way to success and help him learn to pick up cues from other dogs and their play style. If you are looking for a super smart, loyal and affectionate dog and willing and able to invest the time and energy to provide him with the guidance he needs, please contact Village for Paws Rescue at villageforpawsrescue@gmail.com for more information or to fill out an application.
